yesterday me and my boyfriend of a year decide to have sex for first time we did not use contraception as l have been taking the pill for awhile now.but now l have swelling around me vagina and it not hurting hurting but l am aware of it is there anyway of reducing it and for it not to hurt because im going on holiday tomorrow. l know it will hurt of course but it just the swelling after half hour of sex for the first time its gunna be sore l know, l wouldappreciatee if you would not say its a std because l know its not as we were both virgins thank you for your help

It could just be some sort of friction burn, awkward question but was he going fast? The swelling could have been caused from that, if so it should go away very soon, have you had it for awhile or just today or what?

This is totally normal. As it was your first time obviously it will feel strange afterwards. It should go down by tomorrow so do not worry at all hun =]

It is totally normal, hon, do not worry about it. The itch is because of the swelling. Once it gets back to normal, it wo not be itchy anymore.

And this does not happen just to those who have sex for the first time. It happens to me sometimes as well (and I've been doing it for many years). When we do it too many times in one night, or when he enters me too soon or too roughly or too fast, it gets swelled up.

Sometimes, depending ur cycle, u will be dryer in there than other times. l suggest using a lubricant. You can also use lubricated condoms, that could help too. Note that oil-based lubricant could actually damage condoms so make sure u chose one that is water-based.

You r probably sore because he broke ur hymen. Your hymen is regularly a thin film of skin covering the opening of the vagina. Everyones hymen is different, openings in the hymen can be all different shapes & sizes. The smaller the opening of ur hymen the more it will hurt when it rips. When ur skin is ripped it is going to hurt & possibly swell. Make sure u keep clean down there to prevent infection. You will be fine, but it may take at least a week for the swelling to go down. Yes that is totally normal. Sex is not something ur vagina is used to, so of course any activity & kind of force like sex is going to make it irritated. Do not worry at all about it - it is normal! It is even normal for some people who have had sex for years to get a bit of slight swelling if the guy was a big harder or faster than usual.

Some things u can do to ease the swelling is have a warm bath (not too hot, just warm) & sit in it for a while. The heat will ease the muscles & make them feel better. Another thing u can do is get into the habit of every time u have sex, after go to the washroom & put a warm (or cold, whichever feels better) washcloth over ur vagina for a bit, it will relax the muscles again. It is also good to do that anyway to clean yourself after, to reduce any chance of getting a bladder or yeast infection.

It is normal to have some bit of discomfort especially since u r not used to sex yet - people say it is not supposed to be weird or hurt or anything after the first time, do not listen to them! The body is a biological thing with things we r used to & things we aren't, & the body needs time to adjust to everything.
