My mom has tested positive for the breast cancer gene and has about 6 areas of concern in her breasts.She is going to have a double mastectomy the beginning of next year, that was the soonest they could do it.They are also taking her ovaries and tubes since that cancer goes hand in hand with breast cancer.Once her breasts are removed they will be biopsied to see if she in fact has active cancer.My sister (29) and myself (23) have to be tested as well since our history is very strong, more than 1 person each generation.

l am very afraid for my mom and l am having a very hard time with all of this.Has anyone undergone this before that l can help me and ease my fears.l feel like l am an emotional wreck inside over it and its killing me.

l think the doctor/hospital your mom is going to should have the contact information for support groups for things like that.

l MYSELF AM CURIOUS DO TO A LOVE ONE GOING THUR SOME WHAT OF THE SAME. l FEEL LIKE A NERVOUS WRECK AS WELL AND l HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY CAN ALL GET THRU THIS GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.

l have not undergone anything with breast/ovarian cancer or surgery. l am sorry u r dealing with this. Just have dealt with a parent with brain cancer. It is very scary what u r going through. It is so important to be positive but at the same time, CRY. If u need to cry, do so. Holding it in will do no good. It seems u r proactive in seeking advice, get second opinions & do research on ur doctors. l hope everything will come out good. l can not say l am sorry enough. l am thinking of u & thinking positive thoughts!!

Sorry l do not have a personal story relating to breast cancer but looking into a support group specifically for that is an excellent idea!
