I am 19 and have not had my period in 6 months. I am not pregnant and l was wondering if birth control really does help and if there are any side effects?

First, you must get checked out to see why you are not having periods. 2nd, if you were having them, the pill will make them come like clockwork(but it is not a real period but we wo not get into that now) and 3rd, yes there can be many side effects which your doc will explain.

There are side effects, like with any drug. It does help to regulate periods. But, why have you not had one for 6 months? Have you talked to your Dr about it? l would defiantly start there.

Do you exercise a lot? l know that if you are very active in sports, exercising etc. some women have little to none as far as a period. If you are concerned you should talk to your Dr. about it and discuss whether birth control is the right option many factors need to be considered when choosing birth control.
